Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) Announces Full Schedule July 13th – 19th

The 21st Annual Festival Will Include Film Screenings, Panels, and an Award Ceremony Honoring Those Who’ve Made an Impact on LI Film

Bellmore, NY (July, 2018) – With the 21st Anniversary of the Long Island International Film Expo from July 13 – 19, this year’s schedule includes some of the best short and feature-length independent films from around the world, which will be shown at the historic Bellmore Movies (222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore, NY  11710)!

LIIFE is the premiere filmmaker community on Long Island sponsored by the Long Island Film/TV Foundation (LIFTF) and the County of Nassau, which will show 147 short and feature-length films of every genre, music videos, and webisodes. The expo offers networking opportunities, a 350 seat historic theater, press and media opportunities, a convenient filmmakers’ lounge and several discussion panels. This year’s panel topics include: “The Write Stuff” screenwriting panel and our “Filmmakers’ Breakfast Panel” hosted by Mitchell Bard of Snapper Films, “Ask a Lawyer” and “Intellectual Property and Cutting the Deal, Copyright, Trademark and Contracts” by entertainment attorney, Michael Prywes, ”How to Take a Project from Development to Distribution” and “Different Ways to Recoup on a Production” delivered by Summer Crockett Moore and Tony Glazer from Choice Films, and our ever popular Directors’ Audition Panel where actors have “Seven Minutes or Less to Impress” several working directors. A NY Loves Film Roundtable will also be included in LIIFE events again this year. Except for the Breakfast, all other panels are free.

This year’s LIIFE includes 15 foreign films from countries including Spain, Mexico, Iran, Argentina, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Scotland, Albania, Australia and more.

Celebrities abound in this year’s LIIFE films including Robert Clohessy (Blue Bloods), Ed Asner (Mary Tyler Moore Show), Chuck Zito (Sons of Anarchy), Joan Jett, Kevin Brown (30 Rock) in Dinosaur, David Beach (Veep, Delocated) in The Perfect Fit, Judith Roberts (Eraserhead, Orange is the New Black) in Final Polish, Ching Valdes–Aran (Smash, Rescue Me) in Final Polish, Sean Dominic (Greenleaf) in Cal & V, Doug Jones (The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy) in The Boogeys, which also features actors Douglas Tait (Grimm) and Ron Rogge (Stranger Things). Clark Middleton (The Blacklist) is in Mortal Wounds, Frank Albanese (The Sopranos) is in Divided, Eric Roberts (Crash, The Pope of Greenwich Village) and Victor Coliccio (NY Undercover) are in Hungry, Andrea Grano (24, The Young and the Restless) appears in Limbo, Block Island features Jeff Kober (NCIS: Los Angeles, The Walking Dead and Sons on Anarchy), Maddy Cardarople (Stranger Things, A Series of Unfortunate Events), Garry Pastore (The Deuce) appears in Therapy Bro, Erin Richards (Gotham) is in Hot Girl, Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire) stars in Being Keegan, Kate Vincent (The Grey Matter Archives) in Pickings, and many others.

Some of the many highlights of this year include the world premiere of Fred Carpenter’s feature film, Dinosaur. Dinosaur is a dramatic thriller about a day in the life of a veteran police officer who is trying to juggle his turbulent home life, the daily stresses of his job, and the apparent inevitable biker war that’s about to engulf his hometown. Shot on Long Island, this feature stars Robert Clohessy, Chuck Zito, Joan Jett, Ed Asner, Kevin Brown, Ciarán Sheehan and Vincent Pastore. Other world premieres include Mara Bush’s, A Thousand Words, Wes Clark’s, Playing Dirty, Gregory Cioffi’s, The Museum of Lost Things, Lucas Riou’s, Pieces, Steve Sage’s Christmas Even Massacre, and many others.

The Long Island International Film Expo features 23 world premieres, 2 USA premieres, 33 New York premieres and 56 Long Island premieres.

LIIFE will also be holding a showcase, (not in competition) of student films from the Long Island High School of the Arts, the Not Yet Legal Films club and Nassau Boces Barry Technical school.

With a heavy celebrity presence, visits in past years have included a wide range of noted actors and actresses including Ed Asner, Steve Buscemi, Ralph Macchio, Ed Burns, Steve Guttenberg, and Ally Sheedy! Named “One of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” by MovieMaker Magazine, LIIFE is one of Long Island’s most prestigious film festivals and the Long Island Film/TV Foundation, a not-for-profit, is also the foremost group providing support to the film/TV and commercial industries on Long Island.

The celebrities are starting to line for this year’s LIIFE, and they will include Chris Roach (Kevin Can Wait) as this year’s Rising Star Honoree and Kevin Brown (30 Rock) as not only the host of the Closing Night Party and Awards Ceremony, but he will be honored with a Friend of the Foundation award. The LIIFE is also excited to be honoring Danny Aiello with a Lifetime Achievement Award. More celebrity honorees and presenters to be announced shortly.
